Trigger Point Therapy is a very effective technique which can take years to master, due to its very precise nature of application. The techniques can release or “unwind” areas of muscle tissue that have become intertwined and inflamed.
These areas of discomfort will usually also cause pain elsewhere in the body. Physology practitioners are highly trained to work backwards by assessing your area of pain first and then finding the associated trigger point elsewhere in the body. This will alleviate the pain and discomfort in the required area.
Drastic results can be felt in just one single session. Trigger Point Therapy is used alongside other Physology techniques to ensure you get the best results. We use these techniques at Premier League level and highly recommend them to you if you are in pain.
Trigger Point Therapy is a great technique to unwind areas of tissue that have become fibrous and intertwined. When you have an area of over use, such as back pain from sitting at a desk all day or sciatic pain from driving, Trigger Points can occur in these areas.
A Trigger Point is an area of inflammation within a band of muscle tissue. It would be good to imagine this as a knot forming within a single strand of string forming a rope. So it is not the entire muscle that has a “knot” formed, it is a single strand within that muscle.
Sometimes you can feel pain at the location of the trigger point, however it is more likely that you will feel pain elsewhere. This is because this seemingly small problem actually affects movement on a larger scale.
You will probably find at the end of the muscle, near a joint or in a joint is where you would feel pain. So lower back pain, shoulder pain, neck pain, knee pain, sciatica and many other pain symptoms that occur during movement are usually because of Trigger Points that have occurred elsewhere along that line of Tissue.
As with all our initial consultations, your Physology Practitioner will talk and listen to you very carefully to help them build a mental image of what is actually happening in your body to be causing your symptoms. Trigger Point Therapy is actually a very specific technique that works best when combined with Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue Massage or Sports Massage depending on the individual case.
All treatment is hands-on and there is very little work required by you. You will both choose a collective goal for the first treatment which might be to select an area of pain and use whatever techniques are required to get you pain free.
Once you get to the end of the treatment you will find an amazing change in your body and your practitioner will explain any further work that is required if you choose to start a short treatment plan to become fully pain free.
